If you've not been to the white sandy beaches of Arisaig on the West Coast of Scotland, book a trip for as soon as you can. Well, maybe wait until the slightly warmer summer months, but definitely get yourself over there ASAP.

There's something about that whole area that makes you feel very far from home, in a good way. From the views of the islands across the water, to the Caribbean like turquoise blue seas, to the Glenfinnan Viaduct on which you can see the Harry Potter steam train zipping over.

There are a few different options for getting married here, but there is one place that would be an unforgettable setting for a wedding: and that is Camusdarach Beach.

If you're looking for easy access to different areas of the beach as well as basic facilities (like toilets) then for a small fee the owners of the campsite next to the beach (Camusdarach Campsite) can help you organise this.

You could also hire the stunning Driftwood House which looks directly onto the beach, perfect for a small wedding or elopement. Check out a similar wedding captured by the talented Trevor at Silver Photography here.

There are quite a few modern build cottages dotted around Arisaig as well as friendly B&B's to house the rest of your guests too.

For those seeking an intimate and romantic wedding, why not elope with those closest to you to The Roulotte Retreat - the only place in UK with a collection of French hand carved Roulottes.

Although it may feel like you are surrounded by the French countryside, Roulotte Retreat is in the heart of the Scottish Borders, accommodating up to 22 guests on site. Think wildflower meadows, mini lochs, alfresco dining and fire pits. In their words, think "Eco Chic Romantique!"

Create a magical ceremony in the woodland surrounded by fairy lights and Moroccan lanterns. Then gather round the wood burning stove inside their 1950's Studio for a cosy reception.

If you're looking for an alternative wedding venue then this Retreat is a great choice, plus just think of the stunning pictures & video you could get at this unique boutique wedding venue!

If you're looking for a rustic venue for your wedding, that you can decorate with homemade bunting & delicate flowers until your heart's content, then look no further than the Tin Shed at Knochraich Farm.

A re-purposed tin shed on a working dairy farm, this venue has spaces indoors & outdoors (in the stunning Kitchen Garden surrounded by an orchard, no less).

Comfortably seating 100 guests for dining and a maximum of 130 guests for dancing, there is a licensed bar and ample space for live music. You're free to bring in whichever caterers you'd like, and won't want to miss out on the farm's homemade ice cream!

Located a 50 minute drive North of Glasgow, The Tin Shed also has a few apartments available to hire on site.

There is perhaps no other blank canvas with so much potential as The Engine Works in Glasgow. Whether you're looking for a bright and bold coloured wedding or more rustic chic, with this venue you can: "Dream of a wedding as unique as your imagination".

You can go as little or as large as you like here, as they cater for parties from 10 – 250,  and there is the main event space at The Engine Room to host your ceremony/reception.

There's also a private garden is the perfect space for mingling in between ceremony & dinner with a glass of wine as well as a beautiful backdrop for photos & video.

Although there's been a few styled shoots, there have only been a limited number of real weddings at this venue so far, so it seems like it could be a truly unique venue to host your big day. And it's in the city centre of Glasgow so your guests can easily get there and stay nearby - win win.

The Barn at Barra Castle is relatively new on the Scottish wedding venue scene. Its perfect mix of modern design and rustic charm is a welcome addition.

It's a versatile space and can accommodate everything from the ceremony, to the dining & dancing, comfortably seating up to 300 guests.

The views over Bennachie from the wall of windows are spectacular, as are photos taken of the bride & groom in the fields just outside.

If you're planning a DIY wedding, you could decorate this barn with all of your own unique little details until your heart is content.

If that wasn't enough to sway you, check out all the happy couple's reviews on their Facebook page (oh and there's no corkage charge)!

A relatively new wedding venue, Hartree Estates in the Scottish Borders provides the perfect setting for a bohemian outdoor wedding. With it's custom made tepee and expansive grounds, the estate is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

There's the freedom for you and your guests to roam around and make all the noise you want, and party on long into the night. With log fires, lanterns and fairy lights and chill out area complete with cosy sofas and rugs.

Hartree also have a catering team who can tailor packages to you, whether you want the traditional 3-course sit down meal or more of a buffet/platter style, all of their food is locally and sustainably sourced. On-site accommodation is available, and in nearby village Biggar.

You could have a belter of festival style wedding here and party the night away with a brilliant wedding band and a keg or two!

The Barn at Harburn is unlike any barn we've ever seen - consisting of a converted 250 year old roundhouse, originally used as a mill, and a granary. The rustic buildings and lush, landscaped gardens make for amazing backdrops.

You can decorate the venue however you like and have the option to hire the barn as "venue only" meaning you can choose your own suppliers, including caterers. You have access from 2pm the day before until 12pm the day after which is great for taking pressure away from your big day.

The venue is described as a 'blank canvas' venue as you can completely coordinate the decor, however the owner, Kika White, is an experienced event planner and florist by trade if you'd like a hand in bringing your ideas to life.

There's accommodation on site in more converted buildings that can sleep up to 11 people. Oh and... "Breakfast is included, with the eggs coming from the estates chickens and the bacon from their own reared stock." Sign us up!

This room! If you're looking to impress your guests with your wedding venue then look no further than The Coach House. A bit of a hidden gem, it was only transformed into the luxurious events space within Kinross House in 2016. Its Baronial dining hall has grand Egyptian blue walls & hand-painted ceilings to make your guests feel rather distinguished.

Then there's the tartan library bar with split mezzanine level seating & picturesque courtyard for relaxing in over a drink or two, and a walled kitchen garden to saunter through and pose for a picture.

With 11 en-suite bedrooms as well as amazing spa facilities just next door, your whole wedding party can dine, celebrate and relax all in the one place.

Not to forget to mention the stunning grounds available for photographs or video that surround the House, its a place of outstanding natural beauty.

An exclusive use venue, you can host up to 60 guests at an intimate wedding. So, we'll see you there right?

If you're a hippy/nature lover like me, then you'll agree there's nothing like a refreshing Scottish sea breeze to transport you away to your happy place. At Harvest Moon in East Lothian, you only have to travel 45 minutes from Edinburgh for said experience.

Here you have 2 options for your ceremony; get married (barefoot?) on the white sandy beach or amongst their magical treehouse site with views of Bass Rock.

If you're planning a weekend celebration then this venue is ideal as your guests can be accommodated in their spectacular treehouses or luxury tents for the full weekend. Not to forget about the Arabian Nights themed honeymoon tent complete with 4-poster bed!

This is a wedding venue where you can truly create some unique memories and cherish spending quality time with your friends and family.
